A lot of people talk about culture, when it comes to business, but a lot of people don’t understand what this really means. If they do understand what it means they don’t know how to achieve it. Culture is the essence of the company, the attitude of the ownership and leadership of the company.

Culture is who you are and how you deal with your customers and how you relate to each other in the business. For example, are you the type of company that goes the extra mile? How is this communicated to your employees? Culture sounds easy to accomplish on paper but is much more difficult to actually accomplish.

How does the Edmonton business coach teach companies how to build culture? It’s not as hard as you think. It just takes diligence and effort. What do I mean by diligence and effort? You have to ask yourself as a small business owner how often do you meet with your team?

Do you meet with them on a daily basis? When problems arise or if employees have questions do you talk to them directly or do you abdicated their responsibility to somebody else? Are you holding employees accountable for their actions? And are you providing those teaching moments as they arise?

What we teach our Edmonton business coach clients, is to have a daily standing meeting with their team so that they know what is expected of them they can communicate any possible questions that might be pressing from the day before, and give them some motivation for the day.

Another thing that we have them do is to have weekly all staff training sessions. A lot of business owners don’t want to do all staff training sessions because they think it’s going to cost them a lot of money to just train people for one hour out of the day.

The opposite is true. Because when you spend time training coaching teaching and showing that you care, this helps to build culture in your team. Culture doesn’t happen overnight, and it doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It happens by consistent persistent effort over a long period of time so that your team members can actually catch the culture of the company not just have an idea of what the culture is.

What you think is better? Training people to do their job properly in hoping that they stay? Or not training them and they do stay. The choice is pretty clear. When you take the time to train your staff when you take the time to coach or team it is an investment in the future of your company and your employees. This is the only way you’re going to find the people who organist a long term with your company.

Edmonton business coach | overnight success

There is no such thing as an overnight success. Being in Edmonton business coach, I know this firsthand. When you look at some of the companies that we admire in the marketplace, they seem to have come out of nowhere and become an overnight success. When you look at it more closely you will see that these overnight successes actually took a very very long time to become successful.

Companies like Amazon, Apple, Microsoft all took over 10 years before they started making any profit.

So when we talk to our Edmonton business coach clients, they have stars in their eyes about becoming an entrepreneur and being a millionaire in the year. It’s funny sometimes, that we have to burst their bubble. We let them know right away that in order to become a success it’s going to take time and effort and energy.

How much time? It is up to them, and it’s also up to the marketplace. Even though you have a fantastic product or service, that doesn’t mean people are going to line up to buy from you. You have to know who your client is, you have to know what they want, and you have to be able to communicate your offering to them where they are. It’s going to take a long time to create the systems the checklists and the processes that every successful business needs in order to become successful.

These companies that we so admire who are on the covers of the magazines and all over the Internet they didn’t start there. The problem with most entrepreneurs when they get started is they see somebody else’s highlight reel, but they don’t see all of the work the blood sweat and tears that it took to get to that spot.

The biggest problem that new entrepreneurs have, is unrealistic expectations of what they’re going to be able to accomplish in their first year. Bill Gates was quoted as saying people overestimate what they can do in one year, and under estimate what can be done in 10 years. He was speaking from experience. He didn’t learn this from a book, or from some guru. Bill Gates learned this hard lesson by himself.

So we tell our Edmonton business coach clients is, to be prepared for the long haul. Don’t set unrealistic expectations for your first year because it will cause you to become disheartened, and lose hope.

The statistics say that 50% of small businesses will fail by your five. And it is our goal to help small businesses beat the odds. How we do this is by telling them the truth, preparing them for the road ahead, and showing them the way that they can create the business of their dreams.

We show them the proper path that they need to take, the discipline that’s required, and setting up their systems their schedule and their processes for long-term success. Don’t become a statistic, contact us today. 780-937-2939.
