Edmonton Business Coach | Grow Your Team

Edmonton Business Coach | Grow Your Team

The Edmonton business coach at inspired method marketing and coaching has some great advice to share with any small business owner who is willing to listen.

Jim Collins who wrote the book good to great said,” those who build great companies understand that the ultimate throttle on growth for any great company is not markets, or technology, or competition, or products. It is one thing above all others: the ability to get and keep enough of the right people.”

Whether you’re an Edmonton business coach, or a small business owner, or the richest man on the planet, we all have one thing in common. That one thing is 168 hours per week. From the richest person in the world to the poorest person in the world, we all have the same number of hours in which to live our lives.

When you’re a business owner, you have a limited number of hours in which to grow your business. Wasting time on interviewing people for a job is not the highest and best use of your time. Working with an Edmonton business coach, will help you to learn the group hiring an interview process.

If you’re doing one on one interviews to hire, you will be overtaken by the large competitors in your market. You’re all looking for the same person to fill the positions in your company. The problem for a small business owner is they do not have the same amount of staff to handle the bookkeeping and accounting, the customer service, and doing all the hiring.

So in order to level the playing field, you must adopt the group interview strategy. When starting any group interview, it’s important that you set the ground rules ahead of time. We never allow anyone to the group interview that shows up late. It is disruptive to the rest of the group who decided to show up early, and it’s at telltale sign that they will not show up on time when they begin working for you.

These types of people always have some type it personal crisis that they use as an excuse to never be on time. They are disrespectful and don’t care about other people’s time.

So in order to set the ground rules, we lock the door before we start our group interview. This ensures that nobody can get in and disrupt the meeting.

When you are flexible with the interview times, it sets the precedent that you don’t really value your time. And in the mind of the potential employee, it means they can continually be late or manipulate your time.

It is false advertising to be flexible with your interview start time, yet being inflexible when it comes to people working for you. If you start at 7 AM and they don’t show up until nine, that’s can be a problem, right?

So don’t be hijacked by potential employees who simply don’t respect your time. If they are that way before you than hire them, you can guarantee they’re going to be the same way after you hire them.

Edmonton business coach | the process we follow

At Edmonton business coach headquarters we follow this guideline when we hold group interviews. It’s something that you should learn from and adopt as your own.

We always start the meeting with reading out the job posting. As we read the job posting we ask the group does this sound familiar to you? If they nod their head yes, then we know we have the right people in the right room. This gives anyone who is in the wrong place and opportunity to leave.

The next step that we go through is reading out our companies vision, mission, and values. This is important to do before you hire anybody. The reason for this is so that they know unequivocally who you are, and what you stand for.

Being an Edmonton business coach, we help our clients develop solid problem, vision, mission and values for their business. These are cornerstones of your brand and all your further marketing initiatives. These things are the heart and soul of your business and they help guide the decisions you’re going to make moving forward.

It is very important to have very polarizing values. When asked why such polarizing values are important, the Edmonton business coach always says you need people who are either hot, or cold. When you are lukewarm about your business, the people involved in your business will also be lukewarm.

People either have to love you, or hate you. This might sound extreme, but that’s how we are wired as human beings. When you think of political parties there’s right and left when you think of religions, you’re there in her out.

People like to be long to groups that they can identify with. When you list out your company values during your group hiring session, people will either be excited to join your organization, or they will reject your values. It’s very easy to separate the good employees from the bad.

The next step in this process is this. We allow each person in the group interview to ask as many questions as they want about the job. It doesn’t matter what their questions are. We will do our best to answer every question completely for the group so everybody can hear the answers and the questions.

The reason we do this is for everyone’s benefit. Sometimes people will not want to ask any questions. And if you’re in a meeting with 10 individual people and they all ask you the same question, it’s an inefficient use of your time.

By answering questions to an entire group of people this saves you time, and in the long run, lots of money. You only have 168 hours in a week, so use them wisely.
